This is Max just before preschool started today. It was his first day. It has been a big week for the little guy. Welcoming a baby sister, starting school, grandma visiting. He was very excited and even laid out the clothes he wanted to wear after he got up this morning. When we got in the car to take him he said, "Thanks Mom and Dad for taking me to school today. Thanks parents. You're my parents so that's what I call you." We have some better pictures on the camera that I can add later but I thought I would put this up now. Before class started, as the kids were all getting settled in, Max noticed this chart that had an arrow which could point to various sorts of weather. He walked over to it and said outloud, "It's raining today" and turned the arrow over to the rain picture. He was very proud of himself and turned around to inform the boy playing with the blocks that it was raining today. The rain prevented us from getting any good pictures outside but we have a few from in the school and the car on the way. I caught this one on my cell phone. It was a good thing that I walked him in. I am sure that Jen would have cried when they opened the door to the classroom and Max excitedly ran in without saying goodbye or looking back.
He had a very good day at school and the teachers told me that he was the "rounder upper" helping all of the other kids be where they needed to be. He was pretty tired when I picked him up and he handed me all the papers he needed to bring home. One school day down, a billion to go.

Max, congrats on your first day. It's a big step. Good luck to all, sounds like you have got quite a bit of change going on around your house.
Hey guys, That's so fun that Max started school and your little angle arrived. Does Max love his new school. It sounded so great I hope it turned out to be that great. Mallory is so precious. We were so excited to find out she was here. We think we are going to the temple on the 27th of this month. If you are available we would love to sleep over on Friday night. We miss you all and can't wait to see your little girl.
Max is such an intelligent little chap and it was an honor to represent Mommy and Daddy at the orientation, while Mallory was born. It is the perfect surroundings for a pre-school - in the middle of a working farm and the architecture is so authentic--a little red brick schoolhouse that completes the picture. I am so proud that Max is enjoying school and helping the teachers.
