I have been cheering for BYU Football as long as I can remember. I remember growing up in Massachusetts and going to the Church building late on Saturday nights to watch the games on the church satellite. When I was in Junior High my Mom let me pick out a sweet pair of white Converse sneakers with the star and arrow on the side in red. When my Dad saw them his only reply was. "They're red." I chose to attend BYU for one reason: home games. My freshman year I spent all night outside of the Marriott center waiting to buy an All-Sports pass and football tickets, even though I didn't have to. On my mission I kept a folder with BYU Football pictures and news clips that had been sent to me piecemeal by family members (thanks Mom). I used to sneak reads in while my companions weren't looking (except for Alex Stoddard who shares my love for the Cougs). I have pictures of Max Hall and Jan Jorgensen hanging at my desk at work. I wear blue every Friday. I bought DirecTV just to get the Mtn. I don't have red clothing in my closet (with the exception of a few Red Sox items which are clearly labeled and unmistakeably not affiliated with the U). I love BYU Football.
This Saturday the Cougars play the University of Utah. My distaste for the U borders on irrational. When my first born son needed to see a specialist for his skull and they referred us to a doctor at the U of U, I almost sent Jen and Max alone to see him because I did not want to set foot on the campus. I hope to never go back (Max's head was fine by the way, we ended up getting a second opinion when we moved out here). The only thing I enjoy more than watching BYU win is watching Utah lose. Hopefully this weekend I get to do both. I found this video that captures some of the history of the rivalry. I hope you enjoy it. Go Cougs.

I took Evan to the 1st annual blue vs. red flag football game at Cottonwood High. They had old alumni from both BYU and Utah playing. BYU won 40-26. Hopefuly that was a foreshadowing of what happens tomorrow. It was a blast. We saw Reno Mahe, Jason Buck, Charlie Peterson, Curtis Brown, Ben Criddle, Nate Meikel, Hans Olsen, and a bunch of other players. Best part was storming the field after the W.
Loved that post Matt! You Andy and are two peas in a pod! He said he had to leave town this past weekend because he couldn't stand to be around in case they lost (so he took Cael to Cali.)...he said he knew they would probably lose, and then he'd end up punching some random Ute fan in the store, or ramming his car into another one with Utah banners on it. So for everyone's safety he had to get our of here. You guys bleed blue, I love it!
