Memorial Day Weekend

Over the weekend we had some visitors from Philidelphia, PA come down to visit us and spend some time in DC. My cousin Miranda and her husband Bryce were our first house guests in our new house. Bryce is going to dental school and Miranda is teaching preschool and they both needed a big break before they continued on with school. They came down late Friday night and our first plan on Saturday was to go to the DC temple. Matt took Max to the Zoo downtown so that I could go to the temple with Miranda and Bryce. I now owe him a Saturday afternoon when he will go after class. We only took one picture of us the entire weekend. It was taken at the WWII Memorial. We also got to hear a speech from a tour guide at the Vietnam Wall that made us all tear up as we thought about the sacrifices made by the Armed Forces. Living and working here has given us a new perspective on some of history. I am so glad that we live here and so grateful for those opportunities.

Following this picture Matt led us on a scenic (long) walk through downtown to the Foggy Bottom area for dinner and then the Metro back home. We really enjoyed having Miranda and Bryce here and hope that they can come down often to attend the temple and spend some time together. Max absolutely loved them! Monday afternoon we attended the Washington Nationals game and had some great seats. It got a little hot for me, the geniuses who designed the park put in a small eating area near the concessions in center field that is under the upper deck and remains in the shade. Max and I enjoyed our lunch there. When the game went into extra innings we moved over to some shadier seats as the crowd started to file out.

In spite of some of the severe weather over the past couple of days it has been relatively nice. Max and I got to go to the local pool and swim for a couple of afternooons. Max has been working out in anticipation of going shirtless at the pool. I think that is obvious when you see him flex!
