Moving Vacation

Since we were moving this summer we decided to make a vacation out of our move to Indiana.  We left Monday morning and arrived in Indiana Friday night. Even though you could do the drive all in one day without kids, we decided to make a vacation out of it.  We only had to drive 4 hours a day and that was plenty with the kids.  Our first day we drove to Hershey, Pennsylvania and went to Hershey Park for a couple of hours that night.  On Tuesday we spent most of the day at Hershey Park and then headed out and stopped in a little town Somerset, Pennsylvania.  On Wednesday we made it to Kirtland, Ohio and enjoyed the church history sites.  Since many of my ancestors had lived in Kirtland, I felt a real connection to the little city.  Visiting the Kirtland Temple was a really neat and humbling experience.  The early church members sacrificed a lot for building of the temple.  We then continued on to Columbus, Ohio and visited one of the coolest zoos.  We really enjoyed our trip but were glad when we finally pulled into West Lafayette, Indiana.  Our landlord let us move in a day early so we could save our hotel money and use it on a trip to the temple in Chicago. (yes, our landlord is LDS)

My mom drove from Utah to help us unpack and get everything settled.  She always comes when there are big events in our lives and we are always grateful for her. We love our new house and we feel comfortable with the schools and the new ward. I always look forward to moving and starting a new adventure but you forget how comfortable you are in your old surrounding and it is always hard to start over.  We are making the most of every minute here since we are only here for the short two years and then off to start over again :)
