Right before school started we wanted one last weekend getaway so we headed a new city that we haven't visited since moving to Virginia. We only spent 2 days and one night, but we walked and walked and tried to see as much as could. We stayed in downtown Philly and were able to walk to the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. Both Matt and I had seen them once before but it was fun going together and taking our family. We also visited a kids science museum that Max thought was a whole lot of fun. He especially loved the planetarium!
One of the highlights for Matt was a run-in with Pitcher Stephen Strasburg from the Washington Nationals. We were walking to the museum and we walked behind some hotels to avoid heavy traffic and there he was on the corner waiting for his ride. He had just played the Phillies the night before and injured his arm which has taken him out the rest of the season. He was not super pleased to run into fans that morning so we just shook his hand and went on our way. It was a highlight of Matt and Maxwells life!
The Science Museum had a lot of fun interactive things to do for the kids. Maxwell learned how to be a detective, while sitting in his own office and reviewing some evidence from a crime that had been commited. It felt so real to him.
Matt and Mallory were practicing there speed racing in the hands-on sports display. I am pretty sure Mallory won the race!

You guys didn't pick very good timing to finally make it to Philly. You do remember that we lived there for two and a half years and you don't go visit until we have just left? :) :) We would have loved to have been there. We miss our monthly temple visits. Your kids are getting so big. Hopefully we will see you on your next visit to UT. Miss you guys! Glad you had fun in Philly.
Did you forget that we live near Philly now?!?!?!? We would have loved to meet you there. We still haven't done Philly. What do you recommend?
